Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How long and frequent are sessions?

Starting therapy can often bring feelings of discomfort and vulnerability, which makes building trust especially important. With this in mind, my goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for you.

To help establish a strong therapeutic rapport and a sense of safety, I recommend we meet weekly during our initial sessions. As we work together and make progress, we can gradually adjust the frequency of our sessions.

I understand that circumstances such as scheduling conflicts, financial challenges, or extended vacations may arise. In such cases, we will discuss your treatment goals and determine the best path forward for you.

What can I expect for the first appointment?

During our initial session, we will briefly review some administrative paperwork to ensure we are aligned on the practical aspects of therapy. We will also take time to get to know each other, discuss your current concerns and what you hope to achieve in therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I do. For more detailed information regarding accepted plans and rates, please click here.

What do sessions look like with you?

Our sessions will differ from traditional talk therapy. While there will certainly be opportunities for us to chat, I may occasionally pause or slow down our conversation. This isn't because I'm uninterested in what you're sharing, but rather because I want to check in with your body and notice how it's feeling.

Often, we tend to intellectualize or talk past our feelings, especially when discussing matters that are deeply impactful to us. By slowing down, we create an opportunity for your body to process these experiences somatically, with me supporting you every step of the way.

What is your late cancellation/no show policy?

Due to limited slots offered, a 48-hour notice is required for all cancellations. Appointments canceled less than 48 hours in advance will be charged the full session fee.

If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, please notify me as soon as possible. I will attempt to reach you by phone if you are not present within the first 15 minutes of our scheduled time. If I am unable to reach you and do not hear from you, the session will be considered a no-show, and the full session fee will be charged.

Insurance typically does not cover fees for late cancellations or no-shows.

How long will therapy take?

The duration of therapy is highly individual and depends on the specific goals you wish to address. Some clients prefer to focus on a particular issue and conclude therapy once that goal is achieved. Others seek ongoing support to navigate life's stressors and transitions or choose to engage in monthly check-ins as a form of consistent self-care.

It's also worth noting that trauma work typically requires a longer commitment due to its complex nature.

We can discuss your individual needs and expectations in more detail during our initial consultation to determine a suitable approach for you.

Good to know

How will I know I am making progress?

You will know you are making progress when you notice a change in your symptoms, particularly when they feel less overwhelming and intense. We will also discuss and track your progress during our therapy sessions.

Many of my clients report a noticeable difference in how they feel, including greater regulation in their bodies, an improved appetite, and better sleep. They often find themselves responding more thoughtfully rather than reacting impulsively and have an overall improved state of physical and mental health. As they progress, they also report increased awareness of their own behaviors, the behaviors of others, and various situations, alongside a deeper understanding of themselves.

Do you practice what you preach?

Absolutely! Every technique or exercise I recommend for you, or we practice together in sessions; I have personally experienced. This includes both my own personal growth work and my clinical practice as a therapist.

Where are you located and what time zone are you?

I am located in Central Florida, within the Eastern Time Zone.

My practice operates entirely via telehealth. However, I anticipate opening an in-person office in the foreseeable future.

What if we are not a good fit in the beginning?

It's completely normal to wonder if we'll be a good fit, especially when starting a professional relationship. Compatibility is important, and it's perfectly fine if we discover we're not the best match.

After our initial consultation, if either of us feels that we aren't the right fit to work together, I would be happy to provide you with referrals to other professionals who might be a better match for your needs.

What if we are no longer a good fit after working together?

I understand that sometimes a therapeutic relationship may not feel like the right fit, even after we've begun working together. My hope is that we will have established a safe and open environment where you would feel comfortable discussing any concerns you might have.

This open communication would also give us an opportunity to address and repair any misunderstandings or missteps that may have occurred during our sessions.

Should you still feel, even after such a conversation, that we are not the best fit, I would be more than happy to provide you with referrals to other therapists, with no harsh feelings whatsoever.
